Thiam and Vidts in the Long Jump, two experimental events on the program

Apart from the 14 WDL-events the Allianz Memorial Van Damme will add some more, very attractive events to its program. Nafi Thiam and Noor Vidts will appear in a Long Jump competition on August, 22nd. And 2 new, experimental events are added to the program.

The Long Jump Women will be an Invitational Event at the 49th Allianz Memorial Van Damme, in which three times Olympic Heptathlon Champion Nafi Thiam will be on the infield, as well as Olympic Bronze Medal Winner Noor Vidts, both local heroes in Belgium.

The Men’s 800m is also an Invitational Event and offers an opportunity to Eliott Crestan, the Silver Medal Winner at the European and World Indoor Championships, to shine in front of his home crowd.

The Allianz Memorial Van Damme, World Athletics and the Wanda Diamond League join forces to draw attention to two new events : the Women’s Mile Steeplechase and the 4 x 100m Mixed Relay. In the latter event Rani Rosius, the leading lady of Belgian sprint, will be featuring.

Paralympic athletics has a long tradition in the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. This year 3 Paralympic events will be staged. One of them is the Women’s 400m T54, the favourite event of local star Léa Bayakula, the double Paralympic Champion from Paris.
