An imposing bronze statue of Ivo Van Damme can now be admired in front of the stadium’s main entrance.
40 World and Olympic Champions to compete
The Allianz Memorial Van Damme is celebrating its 50th edition this year and, as the final event of the Wanda Diamond League, is bringing the world’s best athletes to Brussels. This means that spectators at the King Baudouin Stadium will be able to watch no fewer than 40 reigning World and/or Olympic Champions in action this coming Friday and Saturday, alongside all the top names in Belgian athletics.
Don't miss the two brand-new world record holders at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Alison dos Santos and Masai Russell both set new world records on Thursday evening in Zurich, the final Wanda Diamond League meeting before the season finale in Brussels. Both athletes had already been announced for the Allianz Memorial Van Damme and will line up on Saturday 5 September for the first time as newly crowned world record holders.
20 year old World 110m Hurdles Champion, challengers for Duplantis and more big names confirmed
Ja’Kobe Tharp makes his very first appearance at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in his still unfolding career. The 20 year old American obliterated last June the 110m Hurdles World Record, set by Aries Merritt in Brussels in 2012. Pole Vaulter Emmanouil Karalis is also heading to Brussels. The Greek has proven to be a serious challenger this season for Mondo Duplantis. More big names have been added to the 3000m Steeplechase, the 400m Hurdles and the 200m fields.
Big number of Belgian Entries and additional sprint events at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Team Belgium performed well at the European Championships in Birmingham. A large number of Belgian athletes are added to the Main Program of the celebrational 50th edition of the Memorial meeting on Sep., 4th and 5th. On both days sprint events are added to the meeting program.
Average Rob’s Turbo Sprint returns to the Allianz Memorial Van Damme with mixed relay
Last year turbo landed for the first time on the Allianz Memorial Van Damme for a sprint between creators. Australian Olli Bownman sprinted to victory. Now the Turbo Sprint returns to the King Baudouin Stadium during the Diamond League and in a new formula : the unofficial World Championship 4 x 100m relay for creators.
Crowd pleaser Tamberi and Olympic Hurdles Champion Russell to compete in Brussels
On Friday Sep.,4th the exciting Italian High Jumper Gianmarco Tamber will be one of the headliners at the 50th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Masai Russell is also confirmed on the Startlist. The American is the Olympic 100m Hurdles Champion and came just two hundredths of a second shy of the World Record this year. Russell will be on the track on Sunday, Sep.,5th in the King Baudouin Stadium.
Simon Verherstraeten awarded 100m wildcard, star-studded women's 3000m steeplechase field confirmed
Simon Verherstraeten will line up in the Wanda Diamond League 100m Final at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on Friday 4 September. The Belgian sprinter has been rewarded with a wildcard following an outstanding European Championships campaign, where he reached the individual final and won bronze with the Belgian Falcons. In the women's 3000m steeplechase, spectators can look forward to a showdown between the three fastest athletes of 2026: Peruth Chemutai, Faith Cherotich and Winfred Yavi.
European sprint queen Amy Hunt to delight Belgian fans on both evenings
The Memorial will also welcome Europe’s fastest woman. Fresh from her double European title triumph, Amy Hunt will compete on both days, lining up in both the 100m and 200m. Belgian European Championship standouts Guisse, Vekemans and Ndjip-Nyemeck have meanwhile also been added to the list of confirmed athletes.
Memorial serves up ‘European Championship final’ in 800m, plus world champion Odira
With British Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, Swiss sensation Audrey Werro and Dutch phenomenon Femke Bol set to line up, tonight’s European Championship 800m final in Birmingham promises fireworks. On Saturday 5 September, the Allianz Memorial Van Damme will feature the same stellar line-up, joined by Kenyan world champion Lilian Odira.
