Ingebrigtsen and Tamberi first big names for Brussels
At 100 days before the 49th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on Friday August, 22nd, the first big names in international athletics are announced to compete in Brussels. Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Gianmarco Tamberi are confirmed to show up in the King Baudouinstadium.

Thiam and Vidts in the Long Jump, two experimental events on the program
Apart from the 14 WDL-events the Allianz Memorial Van Damme will add some more, very attractive events to its program. Nafi Thiam and Noor Vidts will appear in a Long Jump competition on August, 22nd. And 2 new, experimental events are added to the program.

The Wanda Diamond League has announced the calendar for 2025 and the distribution of the different disciplines across all the meetings. The Diamond League 2025 launches on April, 26th in Xiamen in China. The Allianz Memorial Van Damme on August, 22nd will be the last qualifying meeting before the Final in Zürich, one week later.

Chebet, Kipyegon and the Evening’s Surprise Fabbri Broke Three More Meeting Records at 48th Allianz Memorial Van Damme
After Friday's two meeting records, three more were added on the final day of the Wanda Diamond League Final at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. They were set by Beatrice Chebet (5000 metres), Faith Kipyegon (1500 metres) and Leonardo Fabbri (shot put). They, and 13 other athletes, were crowned Wanda Diamond League champions on Saturday night.

Vanderelst Runs Belgian Record, Carabin Shows his Paralympic Top Form
13 Belgians competed in the second evening of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on Saturday, six of them in a Wanda Diamond League Final. Elise Vanderelst bettered her own Belgian record in the final of the 1500 metres. In the Paralympic T52 class, Maxime Carabin was untouchable as he raced to victory.

McLaughlin-Levrone Scores Two out of Two at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
On the second day of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme too, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone impressed in an event that is not actually her speciality. The Olympic Champion and world record holder in the 400-metre hurdles blazed to victory in the 200 metres in a strong 22.40 on Saturday night.

Michael Johnson Honours Retiring Borlées
The opening ceremony of Day 2 of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme was dedicated to the Borlées. Twin brothers Kevin and Jonathan are hanging up their spikes after impressive running careers; father Jacques is retiring as coach of the Belgian Tornados. All three were honoured on Saturday evening, in the presence of living legend Michael Johnson, colleagues and family members.

Duplantis Better Than Last Year, Denny Pulverises 40-year-old Meeting Record
The first night of the Wanda Diamond League Final at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme produced two meeting records. And, of course, the first 16 Wanda Diamond League Champions of 2024. Pole vault phenomenon Mondo Duplantis jumped over 6m11, discus thrower Matthew Denny registered 69m96, breaking the 40-year-old Brussels meet record.

Broeders and Bayekula Belgian Stars on First Night
15 Belgians were in action on Friday the first evening of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, eight of them in a Wanda Diamond League Final. Ben Broeders finished a strong third in the pole vault final. Double Paralympic Champion Léa Bayekula won the 800 metres.
