In addition to four world records (world hour record men and women, 20k men and 100 metre wheelers) the AG Memorial Van Damme also delivered a fantastic meeting record for pole vaulter Armand Duplantis. On the 1000 metres Faith Kipyegon fell just short of taking a fifth world’s best.

Farah and Abdi bring memorable AG Memorial Van Damme to a close with third and fourth world record

After Sifan Hassan led the way by beating the women’s world hour record, later on Mo Farah followed suit by setting a new world hour record in the men’s event: 21 kilometres and 330 metres is the new benchmark. In the same race Belgian Bashir Abdi also broke the world record on the 20 kilometres.

Sifan Hassan is the new world hour record holder. The Dutchwoman took one hour to run 18.920 km at the AG Memorial Van Damme, over 400 metres further than Dire Tune's 2008 benchmark.

Genyn opens AG Memorial Van Damme with world record

The 44th AG Memorial got off to a great start on Friday night. At the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Peter Genyn set a new world record in the 100 metres for wheelers.
