Memorial Expo “from Ivo to Mondo”

The ‘From Ivo to Mondo’ exhibition offers visitors a unique visual journey through time. Here, you can discover Ivo Van Damme’s impressive, all-too-short career and relive the rich history, highlights and stars of the Memorial. Numerous exclusive artefacts, previously unseen archive material and moving footage bring this extraordinary story to life. These include Ivo’s spikes, his official 1976 Montreal outfit, as well as family photo albums and Ivo’s training logs, in which he kept detailed records of his training schedule and results (including charts he drew himself).

Of course, you’ll also hear the story of the very first Memorial and get an overview of the international stars who have graced the Memorial over five decades, the world records, the most memorable line-ups, and more. The Museum of World Athletics is also adding dozens of special items from big names in athletics history, all of whom have a connection to the Memorial – from Alberto Juantorena to Carl Lewis and Usain Bolt, right through to Mondo Duplantis.

The Expo is hosted by Lotto, which has been a continuous partner of the Memorial since one of its very first editions, and can be visited on the first floor of the Lottery Shop on De Brouckère Square in the heart of Brussels. It is open to everyone from 8 August to 6 September, the day after the 50th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Admission is free; no booking is required. The exhibition is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10.00 to 19.00, on Thursdays and Fridays from 10.00 to 20.00, and on Sundays from 12.00 to 18.00 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays).
