The undisputed sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce joins the 100m line-up

The women’s 100m is set to be the highlight of the 49th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, taking place next Friday, August 22, in Brussels. The star-studded line-up has now been further strengthened by the addition of Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

With American breakout star Jefferson-Wooden, her teammate and compatriot Sha’Carri Richardson, Mai McCoy, and Daryll Neita already confirmed, the race was shaping up to be a high-calibre clash. But it gets even better. 

Three-time Olympic champion and ten-time (!) world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will go head-to-head with her American rivals. This will be Fraser-Pryce’s fifth appearance at the Memorial. Her winning time of 10.72 in 2013 still stands as the meeting record. The last time she competed in Brussels, in 2022, she missed victory by just one hundredth of a second, narrowly losing to
