Fastest man in the world this year at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Americans Trayvon Bromell and Fred Kerley will be the athletes to look out for in the Men’s 100m at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, on Friday Sep.,3rd in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. Bromell is actually the fastest man in the world this year and Kerley is the vice Olympic Champion in the mythical 100m sprint.
At least 32 Olympic Medalists at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Less than a month after the Olympic Games in Tokyo the World’s best athletes will gather in Brussels on Sep.,3rd at the 45th Allianz Memorial Van Damme. 14 Gold Medalists, 7 Silver and 11 Bronze medalists – on total 32 Olympic Medalists – will be part of the action at the second to last leg of the Wanda Diamond League, the circuit of the World’s biggest athletic meetings. In the next days some more Olympic Medalists will be added to this already impressive list.
First appearance of Karsten Warholm at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Karsten Warholm will be one of the big eye-catchers at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. The 25 year old Norvegian set a sensational 400m Hurdles World Record at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. It will be his first outing in Brussels ! Bronze medal winner Alison Dos Santos and four other finalists from Tokyo will also be heading for Brussels.
Asher-Smith, Obiri and James join top field at Allianz Memorial Van Damme
Reigning World 200m champion Dina Asher-Smith upgrades the strong line up for the 200m at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. The Briton will be in the battle with Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah. In the Women’s 5000m vice Olympic Champion Helen Obiri will start as the favourite in the event. Kirani James – who own Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals – heads the field in the Men’s 400m.

The Top 5 finishers of the Women’s High Jump in Tokyo - Mariya Lasitskene, Nicola McDermott, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Iryna Gerashchenko and Eleanor Patterson – and double Olympic Heptathlon Champion Nafi Thiam top the field of the Women’s High Jump at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on Sep., 3rd.

Blanka Vlasic, the second best World All Time High Jumper will be introduced in the Allianz Memorial Van Damme Hall of Fame. The now 37 year old Croatian made no less than 8 appearances at the meeting in Brussels and won her event three times.

Mike Powell introduced in Allianz Memorial Van Damme Hall of Fame
Mike Powell holds the Long World Record for 30 years now and will be introduced in the Allianz Memorial Van Damme Hall of Fame. The 57 year old American was one of the favourite athletes of the Brussels’ fans in the late nineteeneighties and the early nineteennineties. Powell won the Long Jump in Brussels no less than 7 times out of 8 appearances.
