Memorial with world’s fastest men sold out!
All 47.000 tickets for the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme are sold out. Everyone who already had a ticket will get to see an unprecedented number of medalled sprinters in Brussels.
One thing is for certain in the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme 2012: the runs will be fast. The top three in the men’s 100 metres, the top six in the 200 metres and the four Jamaican gold medal winners and world-record holders on the 4×100 metres are participating. Brussels will get to see not only gold and silver medal winners Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake, but also Nesta Carter, Michael Frater (both gold with the 4x100m team) and Warren Weir (bronze after Bolt and Blake).
.
Justin Gatlin, the American bronze medal winner in the 100m will present the most important challenge for the Jamaicans. Fellow American Wallace Spearmon (4th in the 200m), Churandy Martina (5th in the 200m, 6th in the 100m) and Christophe Lemaitre, currently the fastest white man, will also participate in Brussels.
For Lemaitre, the Memorial will be his first appearance in Brussels. The Frenchman placed sixth in the 200m in London and feels that he has not yet shown what he is worth. He wants to take revenge in Brussels and beat his season-leading time of 19’91”.
This year, athletics fans had to be fast to be able to see the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme live. All tickets are sold out since Sunday night, about four weeks before the event takes place on Friday, September 7.
