All 7 Belgian Olympic Medal Winners to open Allianz Memorial Van Damme

Olympic Gold Medal Winners Nafi Thiam (Heptathlon), Nina Derwael (Gymnastics) and the Red Lions (Men’s Hockey), silver medal winner Wout Van Aert (cycling), bronze medal winners Bashir Abdi (marathon), Matthias Casse (judo) and the Men’s Jumping Team will all gather in front of their home crowd for the first time since they were successful in Tokyo. During the Opening Ceremony they will be celebrated and they will receive their Prize Money from the National Lottery, partner of the Olympic Team Belgium and from the Allianz Memorial Van Damme.

In total, the National Lottery will hand over € 643.000 Prize Money to the successful Olympians, both medalists and Top 8 finishers. The entire Olympic Team Belgium will attend the meeting and make a lap of honour at the closure of the meeting. They will do so while Regi and Mademoiselle Luna are playing and singing live “Now’s the time”, the official anthem of the Olympic Team Belgium for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

After the celebration at the Opening Ceremony Nafi Thiam will put on her spikes and delight the home crowd in the High Jump competition of the 45th Allianz Memorial Van Damme. The Allianz Memorial Van Damme is the second to last leg of the Wanda Diamond League, the circuit of the World’s best athletics meetings.
