Big number of Belgian Entries and additional sprint events at Allianz Memorial Van Damme

Team Belgium performed well at the European Championships in Birmingham. A large number of Belgian athletes are added to the Main Program of the celebrational 50th edition of the Memorial meeting on Sep., 4th and 5th. On both days sprint events are added to the meeting program.

Additional 400m Men and Women events on Friday and 100m Men and Women events on Saturday reward the Belgian sprinters for their remarkable Championships. Athletes from the different Belgian relay teams get the opportunity to compete individually against a strong international field. Spectators will also be looking forward to watch the athletes from the Belgian U20 4x100m Women’s Relay team that took a historical bronze medal at the World U20 Championships in Eugene this summer.

Other Belgian athletes are offered a wildcard to compete in the Diamond League Finals. Helena Ponette (400m), Camille Laus (800m), Merel Maes (High Jump) and Noor Vidts (Long Jump) have now been added to the field, as well as Nafi Thiam, European Silver Medalist Saliyya Guisse (Triple Jump), Bronze Medalists Delphine Nkansa (100m) and Jana Van Lent (5000m), Elien Vekemans (Pole Vault), Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck (100m Hurdles) and Paulien Couckuyt (400m Hurdles).

In the Men’s events the following Belgian athletes will be on the Starting Lists :

• Yanni Sampson (Long Jump)
• Timothy Herman (Javelin Throw)

On Sep., 4th and 5th the Allianz Memorial Van Damme hosts the Wanda Diamond League Final, in which the best athletes from 2026 compete against each other in 32 events. The winners receive the prestigious Diamond Trophy.
