European sprint queen Amy Hunt to delight Belgian fans on both evenings

So far at the European Championships in Birmingham, Amy Hunt has been untouchable in the sprint events. The Briton dominated both the 100m and 200m and also helped secure gold in the 4x100m relay. With three gold medals already, she is one of the undisputed stars of these championships. On Sunday evening, she could add a fourth gold in the mixed relay and make history as the first athlete ever to win four gold medals at a single European Championships.

In Brussels, Hunt will race the 200m on Friday, where she is set to take on the likes of Julien Alfred. On Saturday, she returns for the 100m, the event in which she has already finished runner-up twice this season in the Diamond League meetings of Oslo and Stockholm.

Expect even more European gold medalists at this 50th Memorial: Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump), Kristjan Čeh (discus), Emma Zapletalova (400m hurdles), Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump), Jessica Schilder (shot put), Jorinde Van Klinken (discus) and Audrey Werro, the star of that phenomenal 800m race. The entire European Championship podium from that event will also be present in Brussels, with Keely Hodgkinson and Femke Bol joining Werro.

Several Belgians who impressed at the European Championships have meanwhile secured their place at the Memorial through a Belgian wildcard, led of course by silver medallist Saliyya Guisse. She will compete in the triple jump on Friday, as will Jana Van Lent in the 5000m. Elien Vekemans (4th in the pole vault) and Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck (7th in the 100m hurdles) will be in action on Saturday. Earlier, the participation of Nafi Thiam (high jump), Paulien Couckuyt (400m) and Delphine Nkansa (100m) on Saturday had already been confirmed.

The celebratory 50th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme will once again serve as the Wanda Diamond League Final, just as it did in 2024. Across Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, finals in 16 disciplines will take place at the King Baudouin Stadium.
