Turbo Sprint at Allianz Memorial Van Damme

Turbo is back, but without the mud this time: on Friday 22 August, Average Rob is organising the very first 100m Turbo Sprint during the Allianz Memorial Van Damme at the King Baudouin Stadium.

After the Turbo Cross, the legendary cyclo-cross race in which Rob got famous Belgians slogging through the mud, Average Rob and the Allianz Memorial Van Damme are now joining forces for the Turbo Sprint. Eight (European) content creators will go head to head in the iconic 100-metre sprint, on the same track where the world’s top athletes will be lining up moments later.

“I’ve been doing a lot of long distance races lately, such as the IRONMAN and the Marathon des Sables,” says (Average) Rob van Impe. “But actually, I’m a born sprinter. I’m short, explosive and was always the fastest in my class. I’m very curious to see if I’ll be the first to cross the finish line here. This is really more my thing. Turbo turbo, give it everything. I’m very honoured that we get to do this as part of such an iconic competition. After that, it’s up to the real athletes.”

Confirmed: Rob’s brother Arno The Kid will also be running. Together, the brothers will catapult out of the starting blocks under the gaze of tens of thousands of spectators and a multitude of TV viewers and social media followers. There will be no Diamond League trophy for the winner, but eternal fame among the fellow creators.
