Four Olympic Champions added to already Distinguished Allianz Memorial Van Damme Line-Up

The Allianz Memorial Van Damme promises to be another evening of world-class athletics on Friday 22 August 2025. We are therefore proud to announce that the following four Olympic Champions will be joining Nafi Thiam on the track of the King Baudouin Stadium.

  • Hamish Kerr, the impressive high jumper from New Zealand, had an excellent 2024. A few months after winning the world indoor title, he jumped to gold in Paris after a thrilling jump-off with Shelby McEwen.
  • In the women’s shot put, Germany’s Yemise Ogunleye will be heading to Brussels. Ogunleye can also look back on a successful 2024. She won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Rome. A month later, a throw of exactly 20.00 m earned her gold at the Olympic Games.
  • Thea Lafond made history last summer. Her Olympic title in the triple jump was the first ever gold medal for Dominica, an achievement that sent ripples through the whole world.
  • Breaking an Olympic record that has only just been set? Rojé Stona did it.Barely 20 minutes after Mykolas Alekna broke his father discus legend Virgiljus Alekna’s 20-year-old Olympic record, the Jamaican bettered the record by another 3 centimetres: 70.00 m. Good for gold and Jamaican hero status.

Our national pride, three-time Olympic Champion Nafi Thiam, will of course also attend the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on Friday 22 August 2025. With these four additional Olympic Champions, the Allianz Memorial Van Damme confirms its reputation as one of the absolute highlights on the international athletics calendar.

The spectators can look forward to an evening full of excitement, emotion and top performances. Tickets are available on the website.
