Event poster by Monique Bilcke, inspired by Luc Tuymans

The poster of the 35th edition of the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme is produced by Monique Bilcke.

The former teacher embodies a "vocation late in coming". After training at the Academy of Roeselare, she began, inspired by the Impressionists, painting landscapes, even though their display already was characterised by unique features and a limited colour palette.

"Now I only work in my studio in Diksmuide. I mainly use colours that are close to gray, beige, white and black. "

Recently, Monica Bilcke created quite a controversy with a series of urban scenes in vague colours, inspired by Luc Tuymans .

"Big cities inspire me," says Monique, despite the fact she has been living in a rural setting all her life…

In August, Monique Bilcke will exhibit her latest works in "Yes Gallery, 239 Strandlaan, St. Idesbald.
