10k back on track at the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme:

After a break of two years the 10,000m will be scheduled again during this year’s Belgacom Memorial Van Damme.

For many years, the 10k belonged to the core program of the Memorial and the event always delivered. Brilliant performances have been achieved and the 10k world record was broken three times in Brussels broken: the Moroccan Salah Hissou in 1996, the Kenyan Paul Tergat in 1997, and the Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele in 2005. Bekele’s record is still standing.

Of the top 25 of all times on the 10,000m, no fewer than 18 (!) have put in their performance in Brussels.
