Festive parade for Belgian medal winners
Belgium enjoyed a great summer of sports with plenty of medal winning athletes and paralympic athletes at the European and world championships. The AG Memorial Van Damme has invited all of them to Friday’s event. No less than 24 medal winners from seven disciplines will join a festive parade during the opening ceremony of the 42nd AG Memorial Van Damme in the King Baudouin Stadium.
Baker: 'God has a plan for me. And it’s not 9.78'
Ronnie Baker is this year’s king of the 100 metres. The 24-year-old American already ran below ten seconds on ten occasions and ran a world leading 9.87 (and 9.78). But God has even bigger plans for him, Baker claims.

Arnaud Art is two days away from his first appearance at the AG Memorial Van Damme. The Belgian pole vault champion is honoured to be part in a “monstrously strong” entry list and hopes to learn a lot at Friday's Diamond League finale.
Duplantis to take part in Brussels
Armand Duplantis will be one of the men to watch at Friday's AG Memorial Van Damme. On Wednesday the European pole vault champion will not be present at an exhibition competition at the Zurich Main Train Station, but the Swedish wonderkid has confirmed he will come to Brussels for the season finale.
Kevin Borlée: ‘I’ll give everything I have left'
For almost a decade the Borlee brothers have been entertaining the crowds at the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme. That will be the case again this year, although unfortunately Jonathan had to cancel his appearance due to physical issues. Together with junior world champion Jonathan Saccoor Kevin and Dylan Borlee will provide one of the night’s many highlights.
Belgian Cheetahs also aim for individual glory at the Memorial
The Belgian Cheetahs are also taking part in the festivities at the King Baudouin Stadium. The relay quartet are aiming for a good individual result. Camille Laus is taking part on the 400 metres, Hanne Claes and Justien Grillet run their 400 metre hurdles and Cynthia Bollingo will run her preferred 200 metres.
Abdi: ‘Last ever track race on Friday'
Traditionally the week leading up to the AG Memorial Van Damme is packed with daily press conferences. On Monday Bashir Abdi, one of the Belgian medal winners at the recent European championships in Berlin, took to the microphone. “Going to the Memorial with a lack of sleep after all the celebrations shouldn’t be a problem,” meeting director Cédric Van Branteghem introduced Abdi. “I speak from experience.”
Air Lavillenie flies high above Antwerp
Less than a week before the Diamond League Final in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels a world class field of Pole Vaulters gathered this Saturday in Antwerp at the backdrop of the Museum at the River (MAS) in Antwerp. In a unique setting on the water (!!!) the final and spectacular leg of the AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Series was held.
42nd AG Memorial Van Damme with international top field
Starting in Doha early May until Birmingham last weekend and at 10 more Diamond League meetings in between the world class athletes battled to rank in the top 8 of their discipline which qualifies them to take part in the Diamond League Finals in Zürich and in Brussels.
