In the Youth Memorial the best Belgian youngster (born in 2002-2001) got an opportunity to shine in the big stadium. Who knows one day some of them will make into the main event?
In the AG 4x100 metres four teams of winners of an online AG competition experienced what it’s like to run a relay race in the King Baudouin Stadium. Each team was captained by a well-known coach:
former Olympic gymnast Aagje Vanwalleghem, presenters Saartje Vandendriessche and Julie Taton and RTBF sports journalist Benjamin Deceuninck. Team Aagje, with the former gymnast as the final runner, won the AG 4x100 metres!
EQUAL RIGHTS RUN
Aagje Vanwalleghem would also take part in the Equal Rights Run. ‘Girl empowerment’ through sport. The AG Memorial Van Damme and Plan International Belgium joined forces to put the spotlight on equal rights and opportunities. A symbolic 100m Equal Rights Run with several well-known sports personalities such as Vanwalleghem and former cyclo-cross world champion Sven Nys, highlighted that partnership.
Nine companies took part in the event (Adecco, Cargill, Golazo, Energy Lab, SkillbuilderS, Kyocera, StoryMe, Superkraft and Yondr). The entire proceedings went to the Plan International Belgium sports project for girls in Senegal. Niels Waem took the win for Yondr in a time of 13.12. Aagje Vanwalleghem/Energy Lab was second in 14.10, ahead of Sven Nys/Golazo (14.28).
