Imana is well known in Belgian athletics as a strong cross country runner. She was born in Ruanda and she is a child of the genocide that happened there in 1994. Imana was born in a refugee camp and her mother died. Imana stayed a few months in an orphanage and was adopted by a Belgian family later on.
She still has a strong link with the country of her birth and with her family. She started raising funds with her father a few years ago to support the people in the region where she was born. Thousand Hills of Hope supports street children and orphins by providing them with medication, toys and food but also by constructing water wells, toilets and sports facilities.
The funds raised by the Memorial will be used to renovate and to extend the pediatric hospital of Kansi and it includes construction works, beds, medical devices, sanitary rooms and other. The investment is estimated at € 30.000.
The Memorial has chosen this charity project and will raise funds in different ways. The original painting will be on auction and it will directly benefit to the project.
