Nafi Thiam delivered again at the WC in London and realised an impressive tally of 6.784 points. She won ahead of German Caroline Schäfer (6.696 points) and the Dutchwoman Anouk Vetter (6.636 points NR).

- 13.54 in the 100 meter Hurdles (w: 0,0 m/s) (1.044 pts, 11th)
- 1m95 in the high jump (1.171, 1e/2.215 pts, 1st)
- 15m17 in the shot put (872, 1st/3.087 1st)
- 24.57 in the 200 meter (927, 14th/4.014, 2nd)
- 6m57 in the Long Jump (1.030, 1st/5.044, 1st)
- 53m93 in the Javelin Throw (936, 2nd/5.980, 1st)
- 2:21.42 in the 800 meter (804, 24th/6.784, 1st)
On Sep. 1st Thiam will compete at the AG Memorial Van Damme, the Final of the IAAF Diamond League in the high Jump.
WILL THOMPSON, MORRIS AND CROUSER GET THEIR REVENGE IN BRUSSELS?
Three finals took place in events that will be on the program in Brussels shortly: the Women’s 100m, the Men’s Shot Put and the Women’s Pole Vault.
In the Women’s 100m Tori Bowie from the USA won by the smallest of margins against Marie-Jose Ta Lou from the Ivory Coast in 10,85. Dafne Schippers (NED) took the bronze in 10,96. Surprisingly top favourite Elaine Thompson only finished in disappointing 5th place in 10,98. The Jamaican will be eager to take her revenge in Brussels.
Ekaterini Stefanidi won the gold in the Women’s Pole Vault for Greece with a jump over 4.91m. Sandi Morris (USA) came in second (4.75m) while Cuvan Yarisley Silva and Venezolan Robeilys peinado share the bronze (4.65m). These women will be present at the Memorial where Morris set a personal best of 5.00m last year.
Thomas Walsh is the new World Shot Put Champion. The athlete from new Zealand won with a put of 22,03m. Highly favoured Ryan Crouser and Diamond Race leader from the USA only finished in 6th place. On Thursday Aug. 31st both will be the main attraction at the Diamond League Final of the Shot Put at the Place de la Monnaie in Brussels.
110 METER HURDLES AND 1500 METER
This Monday four more finals are on the WC program. We’ll have a closer watch on the Men’s 110 meter Hurdles and the Women’s 1500m are events that also figure on the Brussels program.
