Women’s Pole Vault
Olympic, World and European Champion Ekaterini Stefanidi competes against Sandi Morris in the Pole Vault. Morris still has lasting memories of this meeting. In 2016 she jumped 5m00, a new Personal Best and a Meeting Record. Anzhelika Sidorova and Alysha Newman are also in the field. With the top 4 finishers from the Paris Diamond League meeting of last weekend, the Women’s Pole Vault Final promises to become a quality event, full of excitement and tough battle between the best female Pole Vaulters in the world, on top of their shape. Belgian Fanny Smets set a national record of 4,51m last week and receives a wildcard to compete in this Final.
1500m Men
With World Champion Elijah Manangoi, European Champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and IAAF World Ranked nr.1 Timothy Cheruyiot, all the pre race favourites are in for a thrilling 1500 meters. Ronald Musagala, the surprise winner in Paris last weekend also counts among the favourites. Marcin Lewandowski from Poland can not be counted out, especially if the race would be decided in a final sprint.
Triple Jump Men
In the history of Triple Jumping only six men have ever jumped beyond 18 metres. Three of them compete on the AG Memorial Van Damme in the Diamond League Final. Olympic and World Champion Christian Taylor will face fierce competition from World Indoor Champion Pedro Pablo Pichardo and from former World Indoor Champion Will Claye. How close can they get to the World Record, held by Jonathon Edwards with 18m29 since 1995 ?
