The Women’s Pole Vault was a promotional event in Stockholm, in which Sandi Morris from the USA set a meeting record of 4,86m. In the Men’s Pole Vault, a Diamond League event, local hero Armand “Mondo” Duplantis took victory with a clearance of 5,86m.
The Men’s pole Vault and Discus Throw are the only male Diamond League events of which the Finals will be held in Brussels. Our national pride Philip Milanov (4th with seasonal best of 66,51m) saw Jamaican Fedrick Dacres in excellent form set a national record of 69,67m. Second finisher Andrius Gudzius (LTU) set a personal best of 69,58m.
Mariya Lasitskene and Mirela Demireva both crossed a High Jump bar at 2,00m. Lasitskene was the event winner on countback. In the Long Jump victory was decided very narrowly. Three athletes finished very closely and it was Briton Lorraine Ugen who took victory with 6,85m. There was no absolute world class field in the 100m that was won by fresh British record holder Dina Asher-Smith in 10,93. Salwa Eid Naser from Bahrein won the 400m (49,84) while Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay set a personal best in 1500m to win in 3,57,64. Brianna McNeal was the fastest hurdler with a world leading 12,38.
