Mahuchikh won the gold medal at the European Under 23 Championships in Tallinn (EST) this Saturday in a new Championship Record of 2,00m. The outstanding talent from the Ukraine already won silver at the World Championships in 2019 in Doha when she was only 18 years of age. She then breathtakingly crossed a bar at 2,04m, thus proving that she is a class of her own.
In March 2021 Mahuchikh became the European Indoor Champion in Torun (POL) with a 2,00m effort. Earlier that winter she jumped over 2,06m in Banska Bystrica (SVK), the highest indoor performance in the past 9 years and only 2cm shy of the Indoor World Record that is held by Kajsa Bergqvist since 2006.
Even when Mahuchikh is still a very young athlete, she will be one of the favourites at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and also at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, the second to last leg of the Wanda Diamond League. The High Jump always carries high expectations at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Former winners include athletes such as Stefka Kostadinova, Kajsa Bergqvist, Tia Hellebaut, Blanka Vlasic and Mariya Lasitskene.
