200m Men T51
Peter Genyn is the Paralympic Champion for Belgium in the 200m T51. This event will be on the program of the Paralympics in Tokio in 2020. Genyn ranks nr. 1 in the world with a best of 36”62, ahead of Toni Piispanen from Finland (37”77) who ranks 2nd. Genyn and Piispanen won gold and silver in the 100m of the World Paralympic Championships last July.
Genyn is very excited about racing in Brussels on Sep., 1st. “To compete against Piispanen is always something special, because he’s a strong athlete. In his best form he is a really tough guy to beat. It won’t be easy but I’m in good shape and ready to put the stadium on fire”, said Genyn.

100m Women T42
In the Women’s 100m T42 two Belgian athletes are entered : Gitte Haenen and Livia de Clercq. Haenen ranks 6th in the world and faces Norvegian Anna Dalhaug, who ranks 11th with 17”81. Haenen holds a personal best of 16”73, set when finishing 4th in the Paralympics World Championships. Livia de Clercq is world ranked 17th.
