Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie was again beaten by Sam Kendricks in the Pole Vault competition in London. Despite jumping 5,86m without any failures, the American came back from 5th to finally win the event with a clear effort at 5,92m.
Qatari Abdalleleh Haroun won an interesting 400m in a national record of 44,07. No less than 7 athletes broke the 45 seconds barrier and 3 PB’s were set in this race.
Paul Chelimo (USA) came back from behind in the Men’s 5000m where everything was decided in a fast final lap (13,14,01). In the Men’s 100m 6 athletes broke the 10 seconds mark. Ronnie Baker from the USA was the fastest in the latter stages of the race to win in 9,90, ahead of Zharnel Hughes (GBR 9,93) and Akani Simbine (RSA 9,95).
Briton Shara Proctor was an emphatic winner in the Women’s Long Jump as she landed in the pit at 6,91m. This was the only discipline in Saturday’s program of which the Final will be held in Brussels. There is more to come this Sunday.
Briton Tim Bosworth set a new World Best at 3000m race wolking when he stopped the clock at 10,43,84, which is 3 seconds faster than the previous mark of Italian Giovanni De Benedictis (10,47,11). Bosworth is the silver medal winner of the Commonwealth Games earlier this year in Australia.
