With two Gold medals (400m Hurdles and 4 x 400m) and one Bronze medal (4 x 400m Mx) at the European Championships in Rome Femke Bol underlined her position as a leading lady of international athletics. Just watch out for what she is capable of at the Olympics … About one month later we will be able to watch her in the Wanda Diamond League Final at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Bol places in fifth actually in the Diamond League Standings after having won one event so far.
Last year Bol broke the 25 year old Meeting Record in the 400m Hurdles and she was very happy with her performance in Brussels. “This was my first appearance at the Memorial and it was just great. The crowd was amazing. So loud. It felt as if I was competing on home soil.” The Women’s 400m Hurdles will be the closing event on Saturday Sep., 14th from this two day Final in the King Baudouin Stadium.
The first day on Sep., 13th will be very special as well. Right behind the Opening Ceremony there will be two 400m races where the Belgian Tornadoes and the Belgian Cheetahs will be able to compete individually in a high level international field. “Golden” Alexander Doom will compete later in the evening in the 400m Diamond Race Final.
The 48th Allianz Memorial Van Damme, on Friday Sep.13th and Saturday, Sep. 14th in the King Baudouin Stadium will in any case be the most exceptional edition ever. For the first time in its history the event will be spread across two days, with all 16 disciplines for Men and Women of the Wanda Diamond League on the program in Brussels. The Wanda Diamond League Final gathers all the best athletes of the World from the past season, many amongst them will be Olympic Medal winners in Paris. That will give their appearance – one month later – an extra dimension.
Besides Bol also Mondo Duplantis, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Yaroslava Mahuchikh (three European Champions) and reigning World Champions Winfred Yavi (3000m Steeplechase) and Mary Moraa (800m) have already confirmed for the 48th Allianz Memorial Van Damme.
