Kenyan Faith Kipyegon is the dominating athlete in the 1500m for many years now, even though the competition in the event is extremely strong. Kipyegon is the three times Olympic Champion (Rio, Tokyo, Paris) and she also took 5000m Bronze in Paris. She is a multiple World Champion and the World Record holder in both the 1500m and the Mile. Ans she was a three times in a row winner of the Wanda Diamond League. There is not a single doubt that Kipyegon is the greatest of all time 1500m runner and she will be on the track in the King Baudouin Stadium on Saturday, Sep. 14th.
More Olympic Champions include Soufiane El Bakkali, a double Olympic Champion in the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase. Haruka Kitaguchi, the Olympic and World Javelin Throw Champion from Japan and Yemisi Ogunleye, the Olympic Shot Put Champion from Germany are other Olympic Gold Medal winners on the Entry List of the 48th Allianz Memorial Van Damme.
Previously announced Olympic Gold Medal winners are Julien Alfred, the fastest woman on earth this year who won Olympic gold and silver in the 100m and 200m, Letsile Tebogo, the 200m Olympic Champion from Botswana who will compete in the 100m on Friday and in the 200m on Saturday, double Olympic Golden Beatrice Chebet (5000m and 10000m) and Olympic Champions Emmanuel Wanyonyi (800m), Winfred Yavi (3000m Steeplechase), Mondo Duplantis (Pole Vault), Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500m), Yaroslava Mahuchikh (High Jump) and Femke Bol (400m Hurdles).
The last two qualifying legs from the Wanda Diamond League will be held in Rome (August, 30th) and in Zürich (September, 5th). Based on the final rankings in the Diamond Race, all qualified World Class athletes will be invited to compete at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. On two days all 16 Diamond League events for Men and Women will be on the meeting program.
