Christian Coleman from the USA won the 100m in extremely narrow fashion against his compatriots Ronnie Baker and Noah Lyles. Coleman and Baker both clocked 9,98, while Lyles set 9,99. Baker’s second spot earned him a place in the Diamond League Final at the AG Memorial Van Damme. Coleman is closing in on his Road to Brussels, he now places 8th and is likely to also qualify.
In the Women’s 200m Shaunae Miller-Uibo overwhelmingly won in 22,29 ahead of Dina Asher-Smith and Jenna Prandini.
EUROPEAN RECORD
Sifan Hassan set a European Record in the Women’s 5000m in impressive 14,22,34. It wasn’t enough for victory in the event that was taken by Kenyan Helen Obiri (14,21,75) which is a World Leading mark. The previous European Record was held by Russian Liliya Shobukhova who ran 14,23,75 in Kazan in 2008.
In the Men’s Pole Vault it was up to Sam Kendricks to celebrate. The American crossed the bar at 5,86m. Pawel Wojciechowski came in second with 5,80m. Russian Timur Morgunov also crossed 5,80m to become 3rd.
Sam Kendricks, Pawel Wojciechowski, Renaud Lavillenie, Shawnacy Barber, Piotr Lisek and Armand Duplantis have now already qualified for the big final in the King Baudouin Stadium.
