Christian Coleman had to work hard for victory in Birmingham, which is the final leg of the Diamond League qualifiers. Coleman blasted to 9,94 but so did Briton Reece Prescod. The American was awarded victory after a fotofinish decision, whil Noah Lyles came in third. Coleman also qualified for the Final in Brussels. Other qualifiers are Michael Rodgers, Yohan Blake, Su Bingtian, Jimmy Vicaut and Akani Simbine. Ronnie Baker, the fastest in the world this year, had already qualified.
Shaunae Miller-Uibo won the 200m in strong 22,15, with Briton Dina Asher-Smith finishing second in 22,31. Dafne Schippers had to settle for bronze in 22,41. Thes 3 women qualify for the final in Brussels, as well as Shericka Jackson, Jenna Prandini, Marie-Josée Ta Lou and Gabrielle Thomas.
The Netherlands were succesful in the Women’s 1500m. Sifan hassan won ahead of Gudaf Tsegay and Sofia Ennaoui. Her victory qualifies Hassan to compete in the Final at the King Baudouin Stadium.
Cuban Orlando Ortega won the Men’s 110m Hurdles. He secured his win in 13,38 to beat down Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and David King.
Jonathan Borlée came in 6th in the 400m. the bronze medalist from Berlin clocked 46,27. The race was won by fred lerley in 45,58 ahead of European Champion Matthew Hudson-Smith. At the AG Memorial Van Damme a 400m will be staged as a promotional event in which all 3 Borlée brothers will compete.
