Thiam was ranked second at the end of the first day of competition in Austria after posting personal bests of 13.34 in the 100m Hurdles and 24.40 in the 200m. She equaled her personal best in the High Jump (1.98m) and put the Shot 14.51m (PB 15.24m). On the second day Thiam opened her game with 6.56m in the Long Jump (PB 6.58m) and then threw a breathtaking 59.32m in the Javelin Throw, a national record and a meeting record. In the closing 800m she also set a PB with 2:15.24 (old mark 2:16.54).
In the overall result the 22 year old Thiam holds a large advantage over German Carolina Schäfer who set a personal best of 6.836 points. Latvian Laura Ikauniece-Admidina came in third with a PB of 6.815 points.
Thiam can be watched at the AG Urban Memorial series. Next Saturday June, 8th Thiam competes in a Long Jump event at Groenplaats in Antwerp. Consequently she will also be present at the Final of the IAAF Diamond League on Sep.,1st in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.
