For the third time in a row the Memorial Van Damme and AG Insurance join hands to give local audiences the occasion to get a taste of athletics from close by. This year Brussels, Liège and Antwerp will be hosting the AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Series. Next Sunday the first event will be held at the Brussels Atomium.
On a pop up track of 100m the best Belgian sprinters – amongst them the Belgian Tornadoes and other internationals such as Anne Zagré, Eline Berings, Hanne Maudens, Damien Broothaerts and Dario De Borger – will put on their spikes to compete in an unprecedented spectacular sprint event.
Title partner AG Insurance is very much looking forward to the take off of the AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Series, which is an ideal pre program of the AG Memorial Van Damme on August, 31st. “In 2014 we started this partnership with the Memorial Van Damme. Four years later the commitment of our company is as great as it has been in the past. We not only support the main event and high performance athletics, but also all the initiatives that tend to bring the sports closer to the audience. That is what the AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Series 2018 is meant to do.”
The AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Sprintfestival will start at 12:30 next Sunday with 5 national heats of the 100m women. At 13:30 the first of 7 heats for the 100m men steps in their blocks. That is followed by a program for Special Olympics athletes and from 14:30 until 16:00 the Hurdlers take possession of the track. The highlight of the day will be a 4 x 100m back to back relay – inspired by the swimming relays – in which the Belgian Tornadoes will participate.
We invite all of you to come and join this event. Access to the AG Urban Memorial Van Damme Sprintfestival is free. Children up to the age of 12 can participate in a Kids Athletics event from 12:00 until 16:00 hrs, to take their first steps in athletics, led by experienced athletics coaches.
