Milanov threw the Discus 61,57m in Rome. After three attempts he remained in 10th position and wasn’t allowed to have three more throws. Milanov has a seasonal best of 64,91m and his national record stands at 67,26m. Jamaican Fedrick Dacres won the event in Rome with a massive 68,51m.
In Rome 7 events were scheduled of which the Final will be held in Bussels at the AG Memorial Van Damme on Aug, 31st. In 12 Diamond League Meetings athletes have to earn points and qualify for the finals that are held either in Zürich (Aug, 30th) or Brussels (Aug, 31st).
Ronnie Baker made a significant move in his quest to qualify for the 100m final at the AG Memorial Van Damme. Baker now is the new sprint sensation after having beaten for a second consecutive time his compatriot Christian Coleman. Baker also set a new World Leading performance with 9,93.
24 year old Baker proved to be consistent in his first international sprint challenges. In Eugene he won in a wind assisted 9,78 (+2,4m). In Rome Baker won ahead of Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut (10,02) and talented Italian Filippo Tortu (10,04). 60m World Champion and World Record holder Coleman (6,34) only finished in fourth.
Others winners in Diamond League events to be held in Brussels were Sandra Perkovic (Discus Throw), Sam Kendricks (Pole Vault) , Hyvin Kiyeng (3000m steeple), Wycllife Kinyamal (800m) and Sharika Nelvis (100m Hurdles).
The final of the Men’s 400m Hurdles will be held in Zürich. It was the most spectacular of all events in Rome. Qatari Abderrahman Samba set a new Diamond League record in 47,48 which also is a World Leading performance and an Asian record. Strong contender Karsten Warholm set a new Norvegian record in 47,92.
