This is the program of the Memorial Van Damme 2020

The meeting program of the AG Memorial Van Damme 2020 has now been announced. The 100m and the 400m Men are amongst the most eyecatching events, as are the Women’s High Jump and Pole Vault. The Men’s Javelin returns to Brussels after 5 years of absence.

The new Diamond League format includes 12 events instead of 16. Each of the 14 preliminary meetings stages from 9 up to 11 Diamond League events and has the opportunity to stage additional events with strong local interest or tradition. Events to look forward to in Brussels on September, 4th are the Men’s 100m and 400m and the Women’s High Jump and Pole Vault.

“We are delighted with this program in an Olympic season”, explains Meeting director Cédric Van Branteghem. “On the other hand the Men’s Javelin, a spectacular event, is coming back for the first time since 2015, as well as the Men’s 400m Hurdles with the Norvegian phenomenon Karsten Warholm. In that event the World Record is certainly under threat. We will also stage a 3000m steeplechase for Men to keep our strong tradition in that event alive. More events can be added to the program, depending on the results in Paris or Tokyo.”

These are the 11 Diamond League Events that will be staged at the AG Memorial Van Damme 2020 :
• Men : 100m, 400m, 1500m, 400m Hurdles, Javelin Throw.
• Women : 800m, 3000m, 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump.

The AG Memorial Van Damme 2020 is the last of all the preliminary meetings of the Diamond League ahead of the final in Zürich. It will be the last chance for a number of athletes to qualify for that final. The AG Memorial Van Damme 2020 crowns an exciting summer of high level athletics with the Olympic Games in Tokyo (24 July – 9 August) and the European Championships in Paris (25-30 August). A large number of Champions and medallists from these Championships will be at the Memorial Van Damme.
